The perceptions of beauty between Occidental and Oriental countries
Hello dear readers, this time I am writing to you about The perceptions of beauty between Occidental and Oriental countries. The perception of them according to the culture in both of them are important for getting acceptance and status.
The perceptions of beauty between Occidental and
Oriental countries:
What is beauty?
Beauty is something
that without concept produce aesthetic pleasure (Kant, 1790)
Beauty is an abstract concept which has different
perceptions depending on the place where you are. For example, in an occidental country such as The United States and, in an oriental country such as South
Korea beauty can be associated with their beliefs and cultures.
The United State is a multicultural country people of
all nationalities live there that’s the reason why is difficult to define a
specific standard of beauty; however, they have a typical stereotype of how
American women have to look. Americans consider heart-shape face, blond hair,
tallness, color eyes, and thinness as beautiful, but the trendiest
characteristic since in the earlies is tan skin was
on the peak, and the publicity was everywhere. Magazine covers with tips on how
to achieve the perfect tan, everybody wanted to have everyone! The darker you
were, the more fun it meant you had.
Americans women want to look like their favorites
Hollywood stars, just for staying trendy, and have status without matter their
heath. Multicultural countries as The United State have different standards of
beauty which is so frivolous, besides that implicated, scarify their natural
beauty but according to them is to have status.
South Korea in the same line of oriental countries
consider pale skin as a signifier of wealth and prestige, actually, there is a popular proverb in Asia that says "A white skin can hide even the
ugliest thing" unfortunately this country has established a great deal
of stock in divide for their skin color, as a result, it created firm lines of the division between the wealthy, and the poor. Paleness it is associated with the
fancy style life that probably you have inside your home, away from harsh sun
and hard labor in the fields under it.
Asian countries such as South Korea are notorious for
their strict standards of beauty for women, nevertheless the necessity of
Korean women to fit in this standards of beauty are more for feeling good with
themselves, Asian culture is notorious also for having a poor quality-gender so
women feel the necessity of being accepted for men this ideal of beauty
impossible to achieve without surgery make girls stress out and look for a knife
support.
Even though The United States and South Korea have a
different perception of beauty both aim to fit in the beauty standards
established like in Occidental countries consider tan skin as a prestige, in
contrast with Oriental countries consider pale skin as a prestige, on the other
hand surgery is on the peak in both countries because is girls are looking for
beauty. Everybody around the world tries to fit in standards of beauty, it does
not mind how extremely or so simple they are, feeling beauty is a common goal.
Standards of beauty are different around the world and it does not exist a specific definition of what beauty is, even though every person interprets beauty in a subjective way feeling beauty is a common wish. Beauty in a different way in depending on the country in where you are, however anybody can determinate what beauty is since beauty is an abstract concept, everybody sees the beauty in a subjective way, the most important is feeling good with ourselves no matter what society says about our fiscal appearance.
